Tasting crowdsourcing
Crowdsourcing is a very new concept for me, may be because I am rather far from the journalism as a profession. Possibly present and future journalists have already come across with this term, but still not me. I should say that crowdsourcing is very perspective, as it brings together people who are joined by some idea or interest or even profession. I mean those blogs we’ve seen today. IstockPhoto is absolutely amazing!
Wiki Wednesday!
Well, wiki is a really cool tool to be involved in online community collaborations. At the first start I liked it so much, i liked also to add my page there: http://wikipediawiki2.wetpaint.com/page/Natasha+S.
It was really a fun!
Is Wikipedia reliable enough?
This is very interesting and new for me to know that Wikipedia is based on the concept of open source and participatory journalism. I’ve always used to enter “wikipedia” in the search option of my Yahoo! in order to find the main well-known facts about somebody or something. I have never doubted the reliability of the information I looked through.
For me, I always find very useful information there, also I usually check the information through various other sites, connected to my topics. Thus, the credibility of the information from Wikipedia could not be doubted, though I should say that it would better use the main factual things from there, rather than opinions or information should be checked somewhere else. But nevertheless, it concerns all internet sources in general, which of course are still very doubtful.
I will survive!!!!
There are some days in our life, when you feel that your life is in danger and you don’t know how to escape the deadlock, in which you unexpectedly found yourself. But life and fortune will place everything in the right order sooner or later. Hope never dies first. That’s why I say to myself: I WILL SURVIVE!!!
Just if you’re going to Istambul…
I would recommend everyone to stay in this beautiful hotel in hot summer days.
It’s really fabulous!!!
Problems with time management!!!
I really cannot understand, why these days are so short!!!! I just cant manage to do everything needed. It seems I’ve just ggot up, but it’s time to go sleeping. The same story is every day! Deja Vu! and what now to do with NIT??? Every day I promise myself, I’d write the entry on my weblog, but all other things just make me forget. So Sorry, Mr. Emrich. Now, it’s 00.39. Finally I did it!!!!! So, i can go….
Barista! Can I have some hot news, please!
As a part of in-class assignment today I have chosen to write on the self-description of the site Baristanet. The site was founded not long ago, in May 2004 by some enthusiastic journalists. The main goal of this very blog-site is to promote local communities, to connect people who live in one common area with eah other, to bring them all together, so they could feel that they can rely on this site and on the people who are involved in it, so they could help them in finding the right answers. Also it provides people with original reports, local news and gives lots of opportunities for them not to be simple observers but to participate actively in the life of the site.
Some opinions about community
Looking through other students thoughts on communities, I would like to emphasize Kristina’s entry on this topic. I can agree with her on most of the points.
No matter if the community is large or small, the interrelations of people are more complex and cannot be bound by the community size, as human being will allways find someone who shares something common.
Talking about online vs. offline communities, I can say that personal communications which reflects the true emotions and feelings is much more truthful and close to me as interacting with someone who is probably hiding behind some ”mask”.
